A few facts about lower Snake River dam removal

One of the biggest questions about any hydropower dam removal is how much electricity will be lost. Since four dams along the lower Snake River are being assessed for removal, it’s easy to assume that it might have a big impact. But in reality, the combined output of the Lower Monument, Little Goose, Ice Harbor, and Little Granite dams is around 1 megawatt per year. This is enough electricity to power an average home for a little over 1 month.
